Transfer Info

Specific transfer regulations have been established by the NCAA. Before UNCP may speak with a student-athlete wishing to transfer into our institution, we must first receive permission to contact from the school which the student-athlete currently attends. In order to obtain this permission, student-athletes must begin by speaking to their head coach.

Transfers can fall into several categories. The following charts detail some of the rules for specific types of transfers.

TWO-YEAR COLLEGE TRANSFER

If you are in a two-year school and want to transfer to a four-year school we sometimes refer to you as a 2-4 transfer. Here are the rules that generally apply to you:

2-4 and you want to go to Division II

If you are a qualifier with the NCAA Eligibility Center and have no previous attendance at a four-year institution...

At the two-year school, did you:

  • Complete at least one term (that means one semester or one quarter) as a full-time student? Summer school doesn't count.

And

  • Earn an average of 12-semester or 12-quarter credit hours for each term you attended full-time? These credit hours must be transferable toward your degree at the four-year school.

And

  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00?
