
Trent Caldwell enters his first year on staff during the 2011-12
academic year as a graduate assistant working in the strength &
conditioning department.
Caldwell returns to his alma mater after spending last year as a
graduate assistant in the strength & conditioning department at
Texas A&M Corpus Christi. There he designed and implemented
programs for men’s and women’s track & field,
softball and golf. He also assisted with the Islanders baseball
program – working mostly with the team’s grey shirts.
He also assisted with all athletic teams at TAMUCC and helped
design and construct the Moody Field House weight room
facility.
Caldwell was a three-year letter winner for the UNCP football
squad and one of the original members of the team. He played free
safety, strong safety, nickel back, outside linebacker and
contributed on special teams and was named to the Peach Belt
Conference Presidential Honor Roll three times.
He has also worked as an intern at Lumberton Senior High School as
well as serving a youth basketball coach at Cannon Memorial YMCA
for seven years and led his teams to the league championship four
times.
He holds a USAW Level 1 Sport Performance Coach Certification and
is also a member of the National Strength and Conditioning
Association (NSCA). He is CPR/AED and First Aid certified and
continued his education at the NSCA North Carolina Strength and
Conditioning Clinic in 2010.
A three-sport letterman from Jay M. Robinson High School and
football team captain, Caldwell earned his bachelor’s degree
in Exercise Science with a minor in Athletic Coaching from UNCP in
2010.
He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Exercise &
Sports Administration at UNCP.
