UNCP Announces Fan Interaction Websites
PEMBROKE – Fans wishing to have more interaction with the UNCP athletic department, as well as stay in connection with other Braves fans across the country, can now do so through participation with Facebook, Twitter and the College Fanz Network.
Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing? Twitter, which limits users to 140-character posts known as “tweets,” is designed to provide a quick glance into what a person – or entity – is doing, thinking or feeling. Twitter doesn’t require an Internet connection and can be accessed with a cell phone, with the communication appearing as a text message. The service is free, but fans will need to sign up for an account to begin staying connected to UNCP Athletics.
Facebook is a free-access social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc. Users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people. People can also add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Facebook is also a free service. Fans who already have existing Facebook accounts will need to visit the UNCP Athletics page and “Become A Fan” to begin receiving regular updates.
The College Fanz Network is yet another way for fans to stay involved as well, as the site allows users to post photos and videos, as well as “discuss” UNCP athletics with other fans. A free service as well, fans are kept informed through the use of the website’s “Virtual Pressbox” which is maintained by UNCP’s sports information department. Fans will need to create an account an order to interact on this newly-launched service.
