UNCPBraves.com Reaches 1,000,000-Visit Mark
PEMBROKE – UNCPBraves.com, the official
Internet home for the University of North Carolina at Pembroke
athletic department, reached a cyberspace milestone on Friday
afternoon as it tagged and surpassed the 1,000,000-visit mark in
its first year under the umbrella of the PrestoSports Network.
Designed and hosted by PrestoSports, the official web partner of
the Peach Belt Conference, as well as 11 PBC-member institutions,
UNCP’s athletic website was redesigned and re-launched in
July of 2010. The site saw its heaviest traffic it February and
March when it welcomed more than 112,000 visits in each month, but
went over the 100,000-visit mark for the first time in September
with more than 102,000 visits. Nearly 20,000 different computers
log on to the website each month.
A ‘visit’ is a term denoting a person clicking on the
website. If a fan went to the page on Sunday and then again on
Tuesday it would be counted as two visits regardless of how many
pages they saw during any one session. The term differs slightly
from a ‘hit’ which can refer to every file or image
seen on all pages over a certain period of time. Over the last
11-plus months, UNCPBraves.com has received nearly 40 million
hits.
