Condolences To The Family Of Byrtice “Byrt” Dial Brayboy
The UNCP athletic department would like to express its condolences to the Byrtis “Byrt” Dial Brayboy family. Brayboy passed away on Tuesday afternoon at her residence in Cary. She was 69 years old.
Byrtis is the wife of UNCP friend and benefactor Isaac Timothy Brayboy who, along with his siblings, established a baseball scholarship in 2000 to recognize and honor the values and beliefs of their beloved parents. The recipient of the Tecumseh B., Jr. and Eva Brayboy Endowed Memorial Scholarship will be a resident of North Carolina who meets all minimum University academic standards, is of proven financial need, is an athlete in good standing on the baseball team, and a full time student. First preference shall be given to an American Indian athlete. One award shall be made and shall be paid half in the fall and half in the spring. The award can be made to a student in any year of study and is renewable.
Byrtis “Byrt” Dial Brayboy is survived by her husband, daughter Mia Marie, son-in-law Donald Richard “Rick” Pate, grandson Timothy and brother and sister-in-law, Betty and Talford Dial.
Visitation has been set for Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Brown-Wynn Funeral Home in Raleigh. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at White Plains United Methodist Church in Cary. The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
