UNCP/Peach Belt Partner with Ustream for All Live Game Coverage!
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Peach Belt Conference
Commissioner David R. Brunk is pleased to announce
that the Peach Belt Conference has reached an agreement with
Ustream to become the Exclusive Streaming Partner of the PBC. The
agreement will cover all 13 PBC member schools who will now
broadcast all of their live on-line content over the Ustream
platform and revolutionize the way fans of the PBC experience live
game coverage.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Ustream to carry all
PBC live events,” said commissioner Brunk from the league
office in Augusta, Ga. “The way Ustream allows fans to
interact with broadcasts and share the experience will provide a
whole new connection between the viewers and the teams they care so
much about. Ustream is a fantastic company and their level of
innovation and commitment to providing quality are what makes them
a perfect partner for us.”
With the Ustream platform, each of the league’s 13 member
schools will have their own individualized channel pages. These
pages will have their own chat windows allowing fans to interact
during the games. The Ustream feed is also embeddable with Facebook
and Twitter allowing fans to share the video stream across multiple
social networking platforms. The Ustream feed will also be
integrated with PrestoSports, the official website provider for 12
of the league’s 13 members and the PBC office. Those schools
who utilize the PrestoSports live stats player will be able to
integrate the Ustream video, creating a live viewing experience
that is unique in all of college athletics.
“Ustream is thrilled to be partnering with The Peach
Belt Conference to provide fans with a live experience,” said
Wayne Sieve, Ustream Vice President of Sports.
“This partnership enables us to showcase our real-time
technology to sports fans in a way that is truly interactive and
engaging.”
The live and interactive broadcast is available to users across
multiple mobile devices including the iPhone, iPad, honeycomb
tablet, Droid mobile phone, and more. Through the various channels
of syndicated live video players, fans will be able to watch live
game coverage anywhere. Ustream will also archive all broadcasts,
allowing fans who may miss a live event to watch it at any time.
All of these features will be provided free to the public.
“Not charging our fans to watch our games was a key
component,” said commissioner Brunk. “We moved away
from pay-per-view several years ago and really did not want to go
back to that model. With Ustream being an advertising-supported
business, there will never be a charge to fans for enjoying any of
our content.”
The Ustream agreement will cover all 13 schools and 13 PBC
championship sports. The Peach Belt and its members are expected to
broadcast over 800 live events in the 2011-12 season.
