Braves Leap Back Into D2Football.com Poll

LIBERTY, Mo. – Less than 24 hours after finding its way back into the AFCA Top 25 listing, the UNCP football team made it a perfect 2-for-2 in jumping back into the national polls as the Braves re-entered the D2Football.com Media Poll at No. 24 on Tuesday morning, the online magazine announced.

The Braves (3-1) are less than 72 hours removed from handing then-nationally ranked and perennial national powerhouse Carson-Newman a devastating 30-7 loss at Grace P. Johnson Stadium on Saturday. The Black and Gold held the Eagles to just 168 yards of total offense – its lowest total in more than five years – while also limiting the Eagles to their lowest point total since 2006. Carson-Newman's touchdown with just more than two minutes remaining also helped the visitors avoid their first shutout since 1992.

UNCP joins eight other Super Region 2 squads in the D2Football.com poll. North Alabama is third, Tusculum and Delta State each jumped a spot to 13th and 14th, respectively, Valdosta State is 17th and Albany State is 19th. Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members Tuskegee and Morehouse are listed at No. 22 and 23, respectively.

UNCP will be back in action again on Saturday as well when it travels to Glenville, W.Va., to lock horns with Glenville State (3-1). Kick off has been set for 1 p.m. at GSC's Morris Stadium.
