Baskett To Participate In BSN Collegiate Showcase This Weekend
AKRON, Ohio – Former UNCP placekicker Taylor Baskett will join showcase himself among the nation's finest collegiate kickers this weekend as part of the Beyond Sports Network Collegiate Showcase at the University of Akron's Stile Field House.
The kickers in attendance will be provided an opportunity to compete and showcase their abilities in front of the professional world. The top 10 kickers at Friday's kicking showcase will move on to Saturday's second round, while the top four kickers will be invited to participate in Sunday's showcase games. The event provides an opportunity to network with professional coaches and placekick in front of coaches and scouts from 12 professional leagues.
Baskett, a Fayetteville native, finished second on the team in scoring with 74 points after recording an 80 percent success rate (12-for-15) on field goal attempts and an 81 percent success rate on point after tries. He kicked multiple field goals against four different opponents, including three in a clutch road victory at Newberry in late October. Baskett, who will exit Pembroke with a firm grasp on every placekicking record for the Braves, solidified his own record for longest field goal on October 15 when he made good on a 55-yard field goal attempt at Charleston.
