Football To Close Out Spring Practice With Black & Gold Game Saturday

PEMBROKE – The UNCP football team will close out its spring practice season on Saturday when the Braves tangle in the sixth annual Spring Game at Grace P. Johnson Stadium. Kickoff has been set for 11 a.m. and admission is free.

The Braves, who are fresh from an 8-3 season in 2011, are expected to be on display in a controlled scrimmage on Saturday. The event will signal a close to spring workouts which began on March 15. The Black & Gold underwent its final full practice session on Thursday.

"I really love how this group is working together on both sides of the ball," said UNCP head coach Pete Shinnick about spring practice. "They're making each other better every day. There is a lot of great competition out there and that aspect has been tremendous."
