An integral part of the coaching staff, as well as a full-time student at UNCP, William McIntyre begins his third year on the UNCP coaching staff as a student assistant offensive coach with the Braves.
McIntyre, a Cameron native, was a three-sport standout at Lee County High School where he earned four letters in baseball, three in basketball and two in football as a star for the Yellow Jackets. He was named team captain of the football team in 2007 and earned most valuable player honors for the Sanford High baseball squad in 2006, as well as the basketball squads in 2005 and 2006.
An academic-athlete honoree following each of his four high school campaigns, McIntyre was also a member of the National Honor Society and served as the president of the Student Government Association. He was an academic all-star all four years and earned the Ray Kroc Youth of the Year Award as a senior.
A junior majoring in pre-law, he is the only child of the late Dora E. McIntyre. He is on pace to earn his bachelor’s degree from UNCP in 2012.
