UNCP Men's Golf Finishes Sixth At Johnny Palmer/Old North State Tournament

NEW LONDON, N.C. – Matt Morrison earned a second-place finish with rounds of 68, 71, and 74 for a total of 213 as the Braves of UNC Pembroke finished sixth at the Johnny Palmer/Old North State Golf Tournament with a combined team total of 896.

Morrison finished only one stroke behind tournament winner Billy Belair from Lander who shot a 212.  He also tied for the lowest round as he was one of only three players to shoot a 68.  Belair and Lee University’s Brandon Cissom were the other two.

UNCP’s Travis Marshall finished in a tie for 17th as he shot 74,77, and 72 for a total of 223.  Chris Helms (227) and Chris Evans (236) finished tied for 30th and tied for 65th respectively and Taylor Ferguson (250) finished 86th.

Over 90 golfers took part in the three-day event at the Old North State Golf Club with Peach Belt rival USC Upstate (878) taking top honors.  Coastal Carolina (885) came in second finishing seven strokes behind the Spartans and Lander (889) came in third thanks to the efforts of Belair.

The course is a par 72 and it is 7,102 yards long.
