UNCP Currently Fourth At Carolina Sands Intercollegiate
WHITE LAKE, N.C. – UNC Pembroke’s Matt Morrison shot a three-under par 69 to tie for third place as the Braves currently rank fourth at the 2007 Carolina Sands Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,925 yard Carolina Sand Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.
Lander’s Billy Belair and Cooper Tinsley tied for first after posting rounds of 68 each in helping lead the Bearcats to the top of the leader board after the opening round with a combined team score of 280. Barton is currently second finishing nine strokes back of Lander at 289 and Catawba is in third with a total of 291.
UNCP posted a 292 for fourth and Newberry’s “A” team shot a 295 to round out the top five. Barton’s Stephen Harrison shot a 69 as well to tie with UNCP’s Morrison for third.
Pembroke’s Taylor Ferguson and Travis Marshall tied for 14th with each carding rounds of 73. Chris Helms shot a 77 to tie for 38th for the Braves and Andy Case posted a day one 80 to tie for 50th.
Tomorrow’s round will conclude the tournament as the 2007 Carolina Sands Intercollegiate comes to a close.
