Morrison Closes Out Southeast Regional With An 86
POOLER, Ga. – UNC Pembroke sophomore Matt Morrison carded an 86 on the final day of the NCAA II Men’s Golf Southeast Regional on Wednesday to finish 37th, totaling a 251 over three rounds at the Savannah Quarters Country Club.
Morrison shot 84 on Monday followed by an 81 yesterday before recording an 86 today to close out the regional. This marks the first time all season that Morrison has failed to score in the 70’s in 10 competitions this season. The Hope Mills, N.C. native also had not posted two rounds in the 80’s in a tournament all season long.
Lander’s Jake Amos (75, 76, 72) finished first in the regional shooting a 223 over the three-day tournament. Columbus State’s Andrew Georgiou (73, 81, 70) and Christian Ries (75, 75, 74) finished in a tie for second as both shot 224.
CSU did however finish first on the team leaderboard as all five of their participants finished in the top-20 (four in the top-10). Lander was second finishing 18 strokes back of the Cougars and Georgia College & State finished nine back of the Bearcats.
USC Upstate, USC Aiken and host Armstrong Atlantic finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, giving the Peach Belt Conference the top-six spots on the team leaderboard.
