UNCPBraves.com recently had the chance to sit down with junior golfer Jonathan McCurry to learn of his opinion on a variety of topics ranging from who he most admires to how he wants to be remembered when he leaves Pembroke. McCurry, a Sanford native, has competed in 10 rounds of competition this season to help the Braves to two second place finishes at the Honda of Columbia Fall Classic and the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. He finished in a tie for second after firing rounds of 69-73-70 to finish two-over-par (par 70 course) at the Will Wilson Southeast Regional Preview, earning him the Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week honors for the week beginning October 21.
In his career at UNCP, Jonathan has improved his stroke average by more than (76.7 to 72.7). He completed his fall season with top-five finishes in his last two events to lead the Braves, while also ranking in a tie for sixth in the conference.

I Came To UNCP Because: I wanted to get a good education and compete in a very competitive conference.
If I Could Play Another Sport At UNCP, I Would Play: I would play basketball, it's really the only other sport I play next to golf, so I guess that's the one I would pick.
Favorite Pro Sports Teams: The Los Angeles Lakers. I love to watch Kobe play.
What Is The Most Important Thing You've Learned While Playing At UNCP?: To deal with adversity on and off the golf course.
Super Power I'd Like To Have: I would love to be able to fly. It would save me a lot of money not having to pay for gas.
Last Book I Read: Links of Utopia; it was a good book that our coach had us read during the off season that gave good advice for a golfer.
Best Place To Relax: I relax on the golf course
What Is A Fear You Have That Most People Don't Know About?: I hate heights!!!
Coolest Place I Have Competed At: I played at PGA National where they play the Honda Classic on the PGA tour. I played in the Optimist World Junior there. It was crazy to walk down the halls of the clubhouse and see all the score cards of pros that I love to watch on television.
Living Person You Admire Most: Tiger Woods; I know he has done some things that are wrong, but I still love to watch him play.
Who Would Portray You In A Movie?: Will Ferrell because I'm always joking around and I'm never serious expect for the golf course.
I Can Do This One Thing Almost Better Than Anyone: Nothing really. I'm a pretty ordinary guy.
I Refuse To Eat: Mint, Scott Lambert (from England) is always eating it and trying to get me to eat it.

My Advice To Youngsters Would Be: Most young kids know what they want to do, but most don't know how to get there. So my advice would be to have a plan of how to achieve your goals and to stick to them.
What Is One Thing You Want To Happen Before You Leave UNCP?: For the men's golf team to make it to nationals. We have the talent, but we just have to bring it when it counts.
How Do You Want People At UNCP To Remember You?: As a good person, teammate, competitor, and someone that was always willing to help.
