Relay Team Improves National Qualifying Time At Highlander Invitational
RADFORD, Va. – The UNCP 4x100m relay team grabbed a first place finish and an improvement on its NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time to lead the men's track and field team in competition at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday at Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium Track on the campus of Radford University.
The relay team (Sesh Parker, Karlos Jordan, Jameel Joyner and Maurice Eubanks) finished with a time of 41.11 seconds to register the best time recorded this season. Eubanks also improved on his qualifying time in the 200m dash along with setting a new personal record with a time of 21.06 seconds for a second place finish. Joining Eubanks in the 200m dash was Jordan who posted a fifth place finish with a time of 21.65 seconds and Malcom Jones who finished with a new personal best with a time of 22.81 seconds.
Eubanks led the way for the Braves in the 100m dash, taking a first place finish with a time of 10.69 seconds. Jones followed with a time of 11.33 seconds while Sesh Parker finished with a time of 11.42 seconds. Jon Williams crossed the finish line with a time of 12.28 seconds.
Jameel Joyner set a new personal best in the 400m run with a time of 50.91 seconds for an eighth place finish, while Kevin Clancy competed in the 800m run, finishing with a new personal best time of 2:02.50.
Select members of the men's track and field team will continue competition at the Duke Twilight Invitational on May 8 in Durham.
