Eubanks Headed To NCAA Track And Field Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Maurice Eubanks is the lone athlete for UNCP to compete in the 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 26-28 hosted by California State University Stanislaus at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium in Turlock, Calif., announced Tuesday afternoon by the NCAA track and field selection committee. 

Eubanks, a Siler City native, posted his best provisional qualifying time in the 100m dash on March 12 at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational with a time of 10.42 seconds and currently sits 13th of 17 accepted athletes in the event. Besides qualifying in the 100m dash, Eubanks currently sits 11th of 21 accepted athletes in the 200m dash with a time of 21.06 seconds, which was set less than a month ago on April 30 at the Highlander Invitational. 

As a competitor in the 100m dash this year, he has finished in the top-5 in seven of eight meets and in the 200m dash, he has finished in the top-5 in all 10 meets. Between the two events, Eubanks holds 11 first-place finishes, four seconds, one third, two fourths and one fifth on the season.

Eubanks will compete in the 100m dash preliminaries on May 26 at 6:55 p.m. and will represent the Black and Gold on May 27 at 6:15 p.m. in the 200m dash preliminaries.
