20 Questions With Track & Field’s AJ Davis Jr.
UNCPBraves.com sat down with senior thrower AJ Davis Jr. to learn of his opinion on a variety of topics ranging from a talent he would like to have to how he wants to be remembered when he leaves Pembroke. The following 20 questions are a part of a continuing feature at your official Internet home for UNCP athletics.
Davis, a Beulaville native, set the school record this season in the weight throw with a mark of 15.63m set at the JDL Fast Track College Invitational. This season AJ has had three top-10 finishes in the weight throw, shot put and discus throw along with two in the hammer throw. He finished first at the Savannah State Eyeopener in the shot put (12.88m) and the discus throw (40.87m) as well as in the hammer throw (45.39m) at the Wofford College Terrier Relays.
In 2011, AJ garnered a spot on the Peach Belt Conference Honor Roll as a Bronze Scholar. He was a regional champion in the discus throw with his second-best mark of the season (40.46m) and in the hammer throw with his third-best mark of the season (46.36m) along with a fifth place finish in the shot put (12.77m) at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Meet. Davis collected a personal best in the hammer throw at the Duke Twilight with a throw of 52.08m for a fifth place finish as well as a fifth place finish (47.45m) for his second best finish of the season in the hammer throw at the CCU Chanticleer Classic.

What I Love Most About UNCP?: It is very diverse and I get to meet a lot of new people from everywhere! It would not be the train.
I Came To UNCP Because: I could afford it plus the small class sizes allow learning to get personal! Most of all it was affordable and my mom did not want me going too far from home.
My Advice To Youngsters Would Be: Take your time, if you mess up, it just gives you an opportunity to learn and grow from it and go try it again.
What Is One Thing You Want To Happen Before You Leave UNCP?: To break the school record in the hammer throw and to become an all-American.
How Do You Want People At UNCP To Remember You?: As a friendly, caring person with a smile on my face. Also as a nice person to be around and to talk to about anything.
