Braves Wrap Up Regular Season At Aggie Classic

GREENSBORO – Senior AJ Davis Jr. and freshman Shaquille Ray clinched new personal bests in the discus throw and the 100m dash, respectively, as the UNCP men's track and field team concluded the 2012 season at the Aggie Classic on Sunday at the Irwin Belk Track.

Davis broke his previous personal best mark set in 2010 with a throw of 42.06m for a sixth place finish overall in the meet.

Ray posted a time of 10.65 seconds for a ninth place finish as he dropped one-tenth of a second from his previous time set at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.

The 4x100m relay team of Jameel Joyner, Ray, Donta' Allen and Jon Williams crossed the finish line in fifth place with a time of 41.49 seconds for the third fastest time of the season.

The Braves will await the announcement by the NCAA on May 15 for the championship field to be posted in each event at the NCAA II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 24-26 hosted by Colorado State University at Pueblo at Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl in Pueblo, Colo.
