Men's Cross Country Ranked 10th in Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The UNCP Men’s Cross Country team was ranked 10th amongst the Southeast Region in a preseason poll done by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The National preseason poll was divided up into eight regions and was released Tuesday.

Also making a show in the Southeast Region poll were PBC opponents Columbus State (ranked 2nd), Clayton State (3rd), Georgia College (7th) and North Georgia (9th). The last time the men’s cross country team made the USTFCCCA regional rankings was in September of 2008 where they were ranked 9th while the women’s team pulled in an 8th place ranking.

UNCP will hit the cross country season with a running start, hosting the UNCP Invitational on Sept. 5 at Luther Britt Park in Lumberton. The Invitational is set to begin at 9 a.m.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is the non-profit professional organization that represents men's and women's cross country and track & field coaches in the United States. The organization represents over 8,000 coaching members, including 91% of NCAA coaches. USTFCCCA serves as an advocate for cross country and track & field coaches, providing a leadership structure to assist the needs of a diverse membership, serving as a lobbyist for coaches' interests, and working as a liaison between the various stakeholders in the sports of cross country and track & field.
