Ndhlovu Named PBC Athlete of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – After leading the UNCP men’s cross country team to their first victory of the season on Saturday, freshman Pardon Ndhlovu has captured Peach Belt Conference Athlete of the Week laurels, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Ndhlovu, a native of Harare Zimbabwe, began his collegiate career in impressive fashion, outpacing the rest of the field by more than 16 seconds at the UNCP Invitational and helped the Braves finish first at the 8K event with a time of 25:26.33. The time was the second-fastest 8K time for a Peach Belt Conference runner since 2006, and the fastest 8K run for a UNCP athlete since 2002.

UNCP will get a 5-day hiatus from competition before traveling to UNC Wilmington for the Seahawk/Adidas Invitational on Friday. The race is set to start at 6 p.m.
