Ndhlovu Captures Second PBC Runner of the Week Award

AUGUSTA, Ga. – After winning his third event in as many outings with medalist honors at the East Carolina-hosted Pirate Invitational on Saturday, freshman Pardon Ndhlovu has captured his second Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week laurels, the league office announced. It is the second such honor for the Zimbabwe native in the last three weeks.

Ndhlovu, a native of Harare Zimbabwe, posted a 25:15 8K on Saturday, finishing 34 seconds ahead of the second place runner. Ndhlovu’s time in the event makes him the third-fastest 8K runner in UNCP history (Jay Jones 24:45 in 1987, Mike Jimenez 25:07 in 2002) and second-fastest in the PBC this season.

The Braves will have a week free of competition before they travel to Cary to compete in the Great American Cross Country Invitational. The invitational will be held on October 2 at WakeMed Soccer Park and is set to begin at 5 p.m.
