Ndhlovu Named PBC Runner Of The Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The UNCP men’s cross country team continues to gain recognition in the Peach Belt Conference thanks to newcomer Pardon Ndhlovu, a Zimbabwe native, who was named the PBC runner of the week for the third time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Ndhlovu shattered a 22-year-old school record with an 8K (4.8
miles) time of 24:35 at the Great American Cross Country
Invitational on Friday evening. The time bested former Brave Jay
Jones’ 1987 school record by 10 seconds and was the
second-fastest time run by a Peach Belt Conference runner this
season. Ndhlovu finished fourth at the GACC Invitational (first
among Division II runners), and paced UNCP to a seventh place
finish (first among four Division II squads).
The freshman will have another opportunity to best his 8K time when the Black and Gold travel to the Mount Olive Invitational on Friday at 4 p.m.
