Men’s Cross Country Ranked 6th In Latest USTFCCCA Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – The UNCP men's cross country team is ranked sixth among the Southeast Region in the latest poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday morning.

The regional poll is divided up into eight regions with UNCP making an appearance for the second time this season, previously appearing in sixth place in the preseason poll. Also included in the rankings are PBC opponents Columbus State (2nd) and Clayton State (8th). The Braves climbed up the rankings in the 2009 season starting in the preseason poll in the 10th spot and finally reaching the 6th position by the final regional ranking.

UNCP will be in action again on Friday when the team heads to the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens in Charlotte. The men's 8K race is set to start at 4:45 p.m.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is the non-profit professional organization that represents men's and women's cross country and track & field coaches in the United States. The organization represents over 8,000 coaching members, including 91% of NCAA coaches. USTFCCCA serves as an advocate for cross country and track & field coaches, providing a leadership structure to assist the needs of a diverse membership, serving as a lobbyist for coaches' interests, and working as a liaison between the various stakeholders in the sports of cross country and track & field.
