Clancy, Ndhlovu Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Honorees

NEW ORLEANS - UNCP's Kevin Clancy and Pardon Ndhlovu have been named to the USTFCCCA Division II Men's Cross Country All-Academic team released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday afternoon.

Clancy and Ndhlovu are among 182 student-athletes representing 89 institutions given the all-academic status for the current cross country season for their efforts in the classroom and on the cross country course.

Clancy maintains 3.87 grade point average and is one of the top-5 runners for the Braves, landing himself into the record books earlier this season with a time of 26:00 in the 8K run at the Augusta State Tri-Meet. He helped the team place fifth for the second consecutive year at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship as he posted a 28th place finish with a time of 33:12.0.

Ndhlovu maintains a 3.33 GPA to land himself among the list of honorees. The business law major is the top runner for the Braves and a member of the UTFCCCA All-Region Team. He was named Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week on October 25 for his performance in the Augusta State Tri-Meet in which he broke his own school record with a time of 24:28.7 in the 8K run to lead the Black and Gold to a first place finish. He currently holds seven of the top-10 times in school history. Ndhlovu led the team to a fifth place finish in the regional championship, finishing fourth overall, while setting a new personal record with a time of 30:51.7 in the 10K to advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team in Division II, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater through the most-recent semester, completed at least 12 credit hours in the semester of track and field competition and placed in the top 50 percent at the most recent NCAA National Championships or in the top 30 percent at the NCAA Regional Championships.
