Berry Named PBC Freshman Of The Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. – UNCP shortstop Holly Berry has been named the Peach Belt Conference’s Freshman of the Week for the week of Feb. 23, it was announced Tuesday by the league office, for her efforts against Queens University and Chowan University this past week.
Berry posted a .385 batting average in four starts for the Braves at short while driving in nine RBI and scoring another four. She recorded her first career triple and home run this week and amassed a slugging percentage of .846. She ac¬counted for 11 total bases while record¬ing a .429 on base percentage.
The fresh¬man went 2-for-3 in the second game against Chowan with a double, a triple and five RBIs. She hit her home run in the first game. Berry had hits and RBIs in all four UNCP contests as the Braves went 3-1. She is currently tied for fifth in the PBC in batting average and the league lead in RBIs.
The Braves will take on St. Andrews tomorrow afternoon before hitting the road this weekend for a pair of PBC doubleheaders. Pembroke will take on USC Aiken on Friday before squaring off with Augusta State on Saturday.
