Berry Named PBC Freshman Of The Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – UNCP freshman shortstop Holly Berry was named the Peach Belt Conference’s Freshman of the Week for the week of March 29, it was announced Monday by the league office, for her efforts on the week as the Seagrove, N.C. native earned the award for the second time this season.

Berry hit .478 in six games for the Braves, all on the road. The freshman had multiple hits in four of the six games, collecting 10 RBIs, two doubles and two home runs. She went 5-for-9 in a twinbill at Mt. Olive with a double, home run, five RBI and two runs scored in the second game.

She also went 5-for-8 in two games at Flagler with another home run, four RBIs and a run scored. Berry currently leads the PBC in hitting with a .449 average and in RBIs with 45. She is fourth in the league in slugging and on-base percentage, tied for third in doubles and for fifth in home runs.

Berry earned the honor for the week of Feb.23 earlier this season.
