Hartley Named PBC Freshman Of The Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Coming off a series sweep of Chowan and Mars Hill this week, freshman catcher Brea Hartley has been named the Peach Belt Conference's Softball Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. 

Hartley, a Lexington native, hit .643 with a 1.000 slugging percentage in four games last week. The freshman had multiple hits in three of the four games, including a 4-for-5 effort with a home run at Mars Hill. She drove in another with a 2-for-2 performance with a stolen base and two runs scored in the second game against Chowan, and in the opener against Chowan, she had a pair of doubles. Overall, she scored five runs on the week. 

Hartley is currently fourth in the PBC with a .489 batting average. She is also fourth in slugging percentage, second in on-base percentage and leads the PBC with eight doubles.

The award marked the first time that a Lady Brave has been named Freshman of the Week since March 29, 2010 when Holly Berry received the accolade for the second time in her career.
