Lady Braves Lead Falcon Cup After Day One

BADIN – Sophomore Meghan Moore started off her UNCP career with an opening round of 74 on Monday to tie for the lead while the Lady Braves as a squad paced the nine‐team field by two strokes to lead after the first round of the Falcon Cup, hosted by Pfeiffer University at the Badin Inn Golf Resort in Badin, N.C.

Moore's first‐round card of 74 (35‐39) leaves her +4 for the tournament, and ties her atop the leaderboard with Ashley Denton and Samantha Pugh‐Gilder of Wingate for the individual lead. Senior Katja Dammann carded a 75 (38‐37) to leave her one stroke off the lead.

Sophomore Shauna Walor, fresh off her PBC Freshman of the Year laurels last season, carded a 79 (38‐41) during her first round of the year to end the day in a tie for ninth.

Freshmen Dana Watkins and Kelly Sumner recorded scores of 81 (41‐40) and 88 (42‐46), respectively, to round out the Lady Braves scorecards after the year‐opening round.

Alexa Mooney
and Jenn Crow, each participating as individuals, recorded scores of 85 (40‐45) and 86 (36‐50), respectively.

Action will continue tomorrow when round two picks up at 9:00 a.m.
