PEMBROKE – After capturing her first career tournament title en route to leading the UNCP women's golf team to a first place finish at the AASU Lady Pirate Spring Invitational last week, sophomore Shauna Walor has been named UNCP Athlete of the Week, athletic department officials announced Monday.

Walor led the Lady Braves to their third team title in as many tournaments after shaving a stroke off her first-round score with a second-round 77 to give her the win by one stroke over teammate Dana Watkins and Nikki Crowley of Columbus State. The Wake Forest native led an 11-stroke decrease for the Lady Braves on the second round after finishing the opener in a tie for first with Flagler, the eventual second-place finisher.

The individual win was the first for Walor, the 2010 PBC Freshman of the Year, and she has now finished inside the top-five in three tournaments this season. She is currently third on the team and fifth in the conference with a 77.8 stroke average through 16 rounds of play.

She joined her brother, Jordan, as the respective PBC Golfers of the Week last week as well.
