Lady Braves Move Up One Spot To No. 7 In Golfstat.com Rankings
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Despite not participating in a tournament last week, the UNCP women's golf squad moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest edition of the Golfstat.com head-to-head computer rankings, which were released on the site on Wednesday.
The Lady Braves have won the last four tournaments they have participated in, and have sat atop the team standings at five tournaments this year. They have finished outside of the top two spots at only one tournament this season.
UNCP sports six of the top-15 golfers in the Peach Belt Conference in terms of stroke average, including four of the top seven. Sophomore Meghan Moore leads the conference with a 76.2 stroke average through 17 rounds of competition while fellow sophomore Shauna Walor is currently tied for second with an average of 77.3 through 18 rounds.
Senior Katja Dammann sits fourth with a 77.5 stroke average through 18 rounds and freshman Dana Watkins is seventh with a 79.6 average.
The Lady Braves have captured eight of the ten possible PBC Golfer of the Week awards this season, including the last six, and have had the individual winner come from their squad in four of their nine events this season.
The Lady Braves will next be in action on April 11-12 at the Peach Belt Conference Championships in Savannah, Ga.
