No. 16 Lady Braves Second After First Round Of Tusculum Fall Classic
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 16 UNCP women's golf team trails host Tusculum by two strokes for the team lead following the opening round of the 2011 Tusculum Fall Classic on Monday at the Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
Reigning Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Dana Watkins led the squad with a first-round score of 74 to leave her in second on the individual leaderboard. Watkins trails Tusculum's Jillian Corum by one stroke for the lead.
Junior Shauna Walor is currently tied for third with two other golfers after firing a three-over-par 75 on the par-72, 5,805-yard course.
Fellow junior Meghan Moore follows closely behind after carding a 76 to end the first day of action in a tie for sixth overall.
Sophomores Kelly Sumner and Lizzie Bundy are currently tied for 11th and 25th, respectively, after rounds of 78 and 82.
Junior Abby Shipley, competing as an individual, is tied for 31st overall after an 83 on the first 18 holes.
The tournament will conclude with Tuesday's final round.
