Moore Hops Up To Third Place At NCAA Championships
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Meghan Moore is well within striking distance to bring home UNCP's first golf national championship as the junior turned in her second consecutive 75 on Thursday to creep up into third place at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships in Louisville, Ky.
Moore (+6) negated two bogeys with as many birdies through the first 15 holes in working herself into a tie for second on the individual leaderboard, but carded bogeys on each of the final three holes in falling back down to third. Having started the day in fourth place, she was four strokes better than Florida Southern's Melanie Audette who registered an 8-over-par 80 on Thursday in falling from second place into a tie for fifth.
Second-ranked Nova Southeastern's Daniela Ortiz (+1) and Abbey Gittings (+3) rank 1-2 on the individual leaderboard and have the Sharks in prime position to capture their fourth-straight national championship. Through two rounds of play, Nova Southeastern (+38) has a 15-stroke edge on top-ranked Florida Southern (+53).
Moore will continue play in the 72-hole NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships on Friday at the par-72, 6,283-yard Persimmon Ridge Golf Course. Tee times are set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
