Williams, Nolan In Latest National Rankings

EDMOND, Okla.Mike Williams held tight at No. 3 in the latest 165-pound rankings, while Shane Nolan made his debut in the 197-pound listing at No. 8 with the release of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Poll on Thursday morning by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association.

Newberry made its program debut atop the team rankings and is one of four Super Region I squads ranked in the latest poll. Mercyhurst is eighth, while West Liberty and Pitt-Johnstown are 13th and 14th, respectively. The Braves (1-0), who were ranked at No. 18 in the preseason poll by the same organization, did not receive votes for this initial regular season listing.

UNCP will be back in action again on Saturday when the club packs up its show and heads to Newberry, S.C., for the 2011 Newberry Duals. The Black & Gold is slated to engage in a trio of dual meets on Saturday, including tilts with 17th-ranked Findlay, Lake Erie and Chadron State. Wrestling action is set to get underway at 9 a.m.
