Nolan Named To NWCA All-Academic Team
MANHEIM, Pa. – Shane Nolan added another impressive notch to his collegiate resume on Saturday afternoon as the senior was among 166 student-athletes named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Team, the organization announced.
The announcement marked the third-straight national academic honor for the Girard, Pa., native who also took home the laurel following both his sophomore and junior seasons. The first team honoree earned his bachelor's degree from UNC Pembroke earlier this month with a 3.39 grade point average in Physical Education.
A two-time NCAA national qualifier, Nolan finished sixth in 197-pound tournament en route to his first all-American accolades. Having posted a 25-9 record on the mat this season, he finished his collegiate career with a 102-35 record, including a 33-5 record as a freshman at Mercyhurst Northeast. Of his 25 victories this season, three were via pin and a trio of others came by major decisions.
Nolan finished his career in Pembroke with a phenomenal 49-23 record against NCAA Division II competition and posted wins in 11 of the final 16 matches of his career.
