Joiner, Svensson Announced To Peach Belt All-Conference Second Team

EVANS, Ga. – UNCP women's soccer sent two of its players to all-Peach Belt Conference honors on Friday afternoon during a banquet held in Evans, Ga. the site of the 2009 PBC tournament. Both Britney Joiner and Anna Svensson made the PBC's second team as forwards.

Joiner, who was named the PBC's Freshman of the Year in 2008, has played in 17 games this season for the Lady Braves and started 16. A native of Jacksonville, the sophomore has taken 61 shots in 1210 minutes and recorded a pair of assists and game winning goals this season. In the PBC, Joiner currently sits fifth in both shots, tied for sixth in points (24) and fifth in goals (11). Joiner played 90+ minutes on five occasions for the Black and Gold and is one of only two players that was able to tally a hat trick this season (3 goals against St. Andrews, Sept. 9).

Svensson has started her collegiate career in impressive fashion, taking the field in 18 of the Lady Braves' 19 contests, starting in 17 and recognized by the PBC twice as player of the week (Sept. 1 and Oct. 13). The Norrkoping, Sweden native has tallied up 1443 minutes in her freshman season while recording three assists and five game-winning goals. In the PBC Svensson has made herself offensively known in the statistics with 82 shots, second only to Kristen Burton (94) who was named the PBC's Player of the Year. Svensson is also third in shots-per-game (4.56), tied for second in points (29), third in points-per-game (1.61), third in goals (13), third in goals-per-game (.72) and second in game-winning goals (5). Svensson took double digit shots on two occasions, against USC Aiken on Oct. 7 (12) and against Barton, Oct. 28 (11) and recorded at least 90 minutes of play in 11 contests for the Lady Braves.
