Robin Langley enters her 13th year at the helm of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke's women's tennis program. During her tenure with the Lady Braves, she has led the squad to two 14-win seasons - the highest win totals in the program’s brief history. In 2005, Langley also took over the responsibilities of the Senior Woman Administrator.
As the SWA, Langley will oversee various aspects, including academics and compliance, of all the UNCP women's athletic teams. As well as helping with the administration of the female sports, Langley supervises the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, which deals with issues concerning student-athlete life at UNC Pembroke for both male and female athletes. She holds the position of chair of the NCAA Division II men's and women's tennis committee as well as chair of the SWA council for the Peach Belt Conference.
Langley came to UNCP after having served as the head coach at her alma mater, Saint Mary's College in South Bend, Ind., for two years. Impressively, she guided the transition of Saint Mary's from a Division III independent program to membership in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Langley guided Saint Mary’s to a fifth place finish in the eight team conference in 1998 and a third place finish in 1999. Prior to assuming head coaching duties, she served as the team's assistant coach in 1997 and as the boys' coach at South Bend’s John Adams High School from 1996 to 1998. John Adams finished third or higher in their conference all three years Langley served as head coach.
During her collegiate career, Langley was a three time varsity letterwinner. She was named the team's MVP in 1995, and she won the team's Coach's Award for Sportsmanship in 1994. She was a member of the 13th ranked Division III doubles team in the nation in 1994 and 1995.
Langley completed her Master’s Degree in Physical Education at UNC Pembroke in the spring of 2005. A 2005 graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy, Langley serves on the Division II men's and women's tennis committee, as well as the chair for the Southeast Region advisory committee. She is a native of Niles, Mich., and is the daugher of John and Emily Hrycko. She currently resides in Hope Mills, N.C.
