Lady Braves Grab Second At Southeast Region Championship

HICKORY – Senior Jessica McDowell registered an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark and tied the school record with a leap of 5.69m in the long jump en route to first place honors to help the UNCP women's track and field team capture a second place finish at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Braves logged 124 points at the event to finish ahead of 11 other squads, but exited Hickory with runner-up honors behind King College. Region rivals Anderson, Queens and Wingate rounded out the top five.
