PEMBROKE – After leading the UNCP
volleyball team to a pair of wins last week, including a rousing
3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander, junior setter Heather
Bolwerk has been named this week's UNCP Athlete of the Week,
athletic department officials announced Monday morning.
Bolwerk, an Appleton, Wisc., native, registered 91 assists, 18
digs and four service aces in three starts for the Braves last
week. She began her week with 43 assists, seven digs and two
service aces in UNCP's 3-1 victory over the Bearcats on Friday
evening, and then continued her assault into Saturday for UNCP's
tri-match showing with USC Aiken and Elizabeth City State. Bolwerk
amassed 37 assists and nine digs in a tight loss to the Pacers in
Saturday's opener, and then turned in 11 more assists, two digs and
a pair of service aces in the dominating win over the Vikings.
A transfer from St. Andrews, Bolwerk played in 230 games during
her two-year career in Laurinburg, amassing 412 kills, 1,426 total
attacks and 509 digs for the Knights.
