Lady Braves Fall To Falcons, 3-1
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The UNCP volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to host Peach Belt Conference opponent Montevallo on Saturday afternoon at BankTrust Arena as the Falcons posted 56 kills and a .224 hitting percentage to soar past the Lady Braves. The scores of the games were 22-25, 25-19, 17-25 and 23-25.
Throughout the four games, there were 15 lead changes and 32 tied scores as the Falcons (10-11, 3-3 PBC) posted an overall 59 percent sideout percentage compared to the Lady Braves (8-10, 3-4) 54 percent. UNCP combined for a .144 hitting percentage and 46 kills on 160 attempts.
Leading the way for the Black and Gold was Hannah Hill who registered a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs along with six services aces, while Chelsea Phillips tallied 10 kills. Setter Ashlyn Rebok dished out 41 of the team's total 43 assists as libero Marissa Baker led the team with 22 digs.
The Lady Braves faced a tough offense by Montevallo which was led by Michelle Walker with 16 kills on 42 attempts. The Falcons totaled seven blocks compared to the Black and Gold's three. Anna Garrison totaled 47 assists of the squad's 55, while Rachel Wotitzky led the Falcons with 25 digs.
The Lady Braves faced Alabama-Huntsville at 3 p.m. following the loss to Montevallo.
