Women's Team Takes Bronze From Pirate Invitational
PEMBROKE – Freshman Annette Sem posted a 17th place finish to pace UNCP as the Lady Braves turned in a third place team finish on Saturday at the East Carolina Pirate Invitational.
Sem posted an even 21:00 5K at the event and was followed close behind by teammates Catherine Shoemaker (21:33, 18th) Blair Long (21:57, 19th) and Brianne Talob (22:02, 20th) to round out the top 20 competitors.
UNCP placed third in the invitational with 71 points, holding Mount Olive to 106 points. Second place went to Campbell who boasted 46 points, while Sam Lichtner of East Carolina led her team to the first place honors with her 18:49 time in the 5K.
The Braves will have a week free of competition before they travel to Cary to compete in the Great American Cross Country Invitational. The invitational will be held on October 2 at WakeMed Soccer Park and is set to begin at 5 p.m.
