Lady Braves Bring Home Seventh Place Finish At Peach Belt Conference Championships

LUMBERTON – Freshman Annette Sem paced the Lady Braves to take home a seventh place finish at the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Cross Country Championships at UNCP's home course Saturday morning at Luther Britt Park.

Sem took 14th place overall with a 5K time of 24:28.93 - 0.67 seconds ahead of 15th place Karissa Ekstrom of Georgia College - to earn her a spot on the PBC's all-conference second team.

Coming in second for UNCP and 26th overall was Bonnie MacDonald in 25:19.13, third for the Black and Gold was Catherine Shoemaker with a time of 26:03.33, placing her 36th overall out of 72 runners.

Columbus State won their fifth consecutive conference title with just 37 points by placing four of their seven runners in the top 10. Georgia College finished second behind the Cougars with 87 points and placed five of their women in the top 25. Third place honors went to Montevallo with 91 points, just four points shy of second place honors.

UNCP's women placed seventh overall with 163 points, 13 points behind sixth place North Georgia and 42 points ahead of eighth place USC Aiken.
