Mahaffie Earns Second Consecutive PBC Runner Of The Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. – UNCP senior Livia Mahaffie has been named the Peach Belt Conference's Runner of the Week for the second consecutive time this season, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Mahaffie, a Washington native, finished 16th with a time of 19:30 in the 5k on Saturday at the Division I-laden College of Charleston Invitational. She shaved 28 seconds off her 5K time from a week ago at the Gamecock Invitational and in the process, running the fastest 5k time in the PBC this season. With her performance this week, she now holds the only two sub-20 5k time in the conference.
Mahaffie holds the school record in the 5K with a time of 18:59.4 set on Oct. 23, 2010 at the August State Tri-Meet where she finished third overall and first on the team.
UNCP will be in action again on September 17 when it travels to Aiken, S.C., for the Bridgestone-Pacer Invitational. The men's 8K race is set to start at 9 a.m.
